After a low key Onam season, Malayalam film industry is gearing up to celebrate Ramzan in style. With three of the most high profile movies in recent times releasing this weekend, it is going to be a battle worth a watch.

C E Francis, popularly known as Pranchiyettan is into the rice business and hails from Thrissur. He is rich but suffers from an inferiority complex. His interactions with a girl named Padmashri who grew up in Mumbai, played by Priyamani, have a definite influence in his life. Khushboo is an old schoolmate of Pranchi.Mamootty has yet again proved his caliber as a versatile actor. Master Ganapathy as teenager Pauli has given a shoulder-to-shoulder performance with Mamootty. This new Mohanlal starer had an extraordinary opening from it’s 101 screens in Kerala. Also this film did well in other places like Chennai, Banglore etc. This film has netted in a whooping amount of Rs 6.5 crore from it’s first week.the main point to be noted is that the entire shows on the releasing day of this film were house fulls and as a result it had netted in a whooping amount of Rs. 1.3 crores as it's share for the day. This is only second in terms of the collection report for the first day by a film, where the first spot too belongs to a Mohanlal film, Saagar Alias Jacky - Reloaded.Saagar Alias Jacky had netted in an amount of about Rs. 1.7 crores in it's initial day. The following spots are equipped by Pazhassiraja(Rs. 1.2 crores), Pokkiriraja(Rs. 1.1 crores), Kurukshetra(Rs. 98 lakhs) and Twenty 20(Rs. 96 lakhs). As usual Mohanlal exceled as Balaraman,No one other than Mohanlal could make Balaraman that Perfect.Mohanlal was that perfect Physically and Character wise for Balaraman.Complete Marks for Mohanlal as Balaraman.Samudrakani as a Naxal Leader was the perfect cast,even though short ,Samudrakani did a fine Job(Dialogue Delivery was amazing).Lalu Alex,Sneha,and others are passable.Kailash has no future,and might be out of the industry in no time.Suraj and Jagathy were wasted.

Elsamma Enna Aankutty : Good watch

Lal Jose has done a wonderful job with the newcomer, getting her expressions and mannerisms to fit the character. However, it is a bit of disappointment to observe that the new female actors in the Malayalam film industry are not trusted with dubbing in their own voice. The reason why actors like Manju Warrior and Meera Jasmine stand out in Malayalam Cinema is because they used their own voice, leaving a mark of their own. The same reason brings good actors like Kavya Madhavan a little down in the scale and leaves them unable to give out their best.
‘Elsamma Enna Aankutty’ is a good watch, one that won’t give you any tension or goosebumps, with its touching scenes, lighter moments and subtle romance. Undoubtedly an entertainment that won’t disappoint.
