Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol What's missing?????

"Blue is glue," Simon Pegg's Benji helpfully informs IMF secret agent/superhero Ethan Hunt (Cruise) as he's about to climb up the side of Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world, using only a pair of electronic suction gloves that light up when activated. Referring to the colour of that light, Hunt asks, "And what's red?" "Dead," says Benji, without batting an eyelid.
This sequence encapsulates the little that's good about Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, the latest entrant in this now 15-year-old cinematic franchise. The aforementioned nail-biting set-piece on the side of the Burj featuring Cruise, defying every bit of the 49 years he has allegedly spent on this planet, forms the centerpiece of this film. This may just be the most breathtaking action movie sequence of the year.
Even if all this sounds like nitpicking, the one thing a Mission: Impossible movie needs is a strong villain. In this case it's the half-baked Hendricks (Swedish actor Nyqvist), a Russian ex-military strategist who wants to start a nuclear war because, well, he thinks it's the right thing to do. He also gets minimal screen-time, even less than Benji. And finally, Cruise, admirable to watch in the action scenes, is at his wooden worst here, barely going beyond his usual gaze-intently-at-something style of acting. Whatever happened to the man we saw not too long ago in Collateral and Tropic Thunder, busting out acting chops no one thought he possessed anymore?

This movie is a money-spinning entertainer. With Bird at the helm, however, we expected an iconic action film with a strong emotional resonance. In that regard, this film is a failure. One of the audience review was
"Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is eye-candy with lots of loopholes. The movie is best  experienced in an IMAX theater. Story of the movie is nothing special but the way it's executed is awesome. Dubai shines in the movie, though some shots of the city were factually incorrect. Though a shot of Mumbai's Queen's Necklace is shown, that's where it ends as well. Everything else they portrayed as Mumbai was actually shot in another location. The Indian party scene was shot in Zabeel Saray in Dubai. And they showed Sun TV's TV station as being in Mumbai (when it was actually supposed to be Bangalore), which by the way was being manned by just two security guards! Anil Kapoor's potential was totally wasted and he looked more like a fool in the movie. Lots of  continuation errors, though overall, the movie is good for a one time  watch."
I too agree with him......
Critical reception
The film has received positive reviews, scoring 93% on the film-critic aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, based on 125 reviews, making it the most acclaimed entry of series. The site's critical consensus is, "Stylish, fast-paced, and loaded with gripping set pieces, the fourth Mission: Impossible is big-budget popcorn entertainment that really works."
Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film three-and-a-half stars out of four, saying the film "is a terrific thriller with action sequences that function as a kind of action poetry". Philippa Hawker of The Sydney Morning Herald gave the film three stars out of five, and said it is "ludicrously improbable, but also quite fun." As Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly analyzed, the movie "brims with scenes that are exciting and amazing at the same time; they're brought off with such casual aplomb that they're funny, too. ... Ghost Protocol is fast and explosive, but it's also a supremely clever sleight-of-hand thriller. Brad Bird, the animation wizard, ... showing an animator's miraculously precise use of visual space, has a playful, screw-tightening ingenuity all his own."
Dan Kois of Slate.com, commenting on the film's craftsmanship and context, said, "Along with [being] many other things — a crackerjack action picture, a smoothly operating product-endorsement machine, a useful guide to the obscuring of Cruise's annoying persona via millions of dollars of special effects — the fourth 'Mission: Impossible' movie also functions as a primer on how to use IMAX technology to immerse an audience. The scenes on the Burj gave me more vertigo than Vertigo.

Ra.One is currently India's most expensive film to date  and will be released in both 2D and 3D formats across 3,200 screens in India,  along with its dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu and German. What has been a well guarded secret for over two years would finally come out in open. Arjun Rampal, who plays the title role of RA.ONE, would be unmasked around Dussehra."This would be pretty much akin to the mythological tale of Ram and Raavan where Dussehra and Diwali held immense significance," says a source attached to the film, "While Shahrukh Khan would be stepping out in the form of Ram as 'G.One'(jeevan), Arjun would be his nemesis Raavan as 'Ra.One'. "Ra.One is the modern, new age technology version of our mythological "Raavan", who was a mixture of ten different evil characters On essaying the role of G.One or better say "Jeevan", a superhero who saves the mankind from Ra.One's torment. Through this film, I want to prove that Indian superheroes can also be as cool as the international ones." Superstar Rajinikanth's fans who have been praying consistently for his recovery won't have to wait too long to see him on big screen as 'Ra.One' releases this Diwali on October 26. His last release was last years blockbuster hit 'Robot'.SRK who is seen fighting a gang of villains faces another threat from a gang armed with deadly weapons. At this critical point, Rajini makes an entry in trademark 'Rajini Style' in a car. The super powered vehicle immediately sucks up all the weapons from the villains prompting SRK to ask Kareena Kapoor, who that man in the car was. That's when Rajinikanth steps out and delivers a super- hit dialogue from the film 'Bhasha'.

Rear Window

http://listverse.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/025-rear-window.jpg
Rear Window is a 1954 American suspense film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, written by John Michael Hayes and based on Cornell Woolrich's 1942 short story "It Had to Be Murder". Originally released by Paramount Pictures, the film stars James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey, and Thelma Ritter.

The film is considered by many filmgoers, critics and scholars to be one of Hitchcock's best. The film received four Academy Award nominations and was ranked #42 on AFI's 100 Years…100 Movies list and #48 on the 10th-anniversary edition. In 1997, Rear Window was added to the United States National Film Registry.

After breaking his leg during a dangerous assignment, professional photographer L. B. "Jeff" Jeffries (James Stewart) is confined in his Greenwich Village apartment, using a wheelchair while he recuperates. His rear window looks out onto a small courtyard and several other apartments. During a summer heat wave, he passes the time by watching his neighbors, who keep their windows open to stay cool. The tenants he can see include a dancer, a lonely woman he nicknames "Miss Lonelyheart", a songwriter, several married couples, and Lars Thorwald (Raymond Burr), a wholesale jewelry salesman with a bedridden wife.

After Thorwald makes repeated late-night trips carrying his sample case, Jeff notices that Thorwald's wife is gone and sees Thorwald cleaning a large knife and handsaw. Later, Thorwald ties a large packing crate with heavy rope and has moving men haul it away. Jeff discusses these observations with his wealthy socialite girlfriend Lisa Fremont (Grace Kelly) and his insurance company home-care nurse Stella (Thelma Ritter), then explains to his friend Tom Doyle (Wendell Corey), a New York City police detective, that they believe Thorwald murdered his wife. Doyle looks into the situation but finds nothing suspicious.

Soon after, a neighbor's dog is found dead with its neck broken. When a woman sees the dog and screams, the neighbors all rush to their windows to see what has happened, except for Thorwald, whose cigar can be seen glowing as he sits in his dark apartment. Convinced that Thorwald is guilty after all, Jeff has Lisa slip an accusatory note under Thorwald's door so Jeff can watch his reaction when he reads it. Then, as a pretext to get Thorwald away from his apartment, Jeff telephones him and arranges a meeting at a bar. He thinks Thorwald may have buried something in the courtyard flower patch and then killed the dog to keep it from digging it up. When Thorwald leaves, Lisa and Stella dig up the flowers but find nothing.

Lisa then climbs the fire escape to Thorwald's apartment and squeezes in through an open window. When Thorwald returns and grabs Lisa, Jeff calls the police, who arrive in time to save her. With the police present, Jeff sees Lisa with her hands behind her back, wiggling her finger with Mrs. Thorwald's wedding ring on it. Thorwald also sees this, realizes that she is signaling to someone, and notices Jeff across the courtyard.

Jeff phones Doyle, now convinced that Thorwald is guilty of something, and Stella heads for the police station to post bail for Lisa, leaving Jeff alone. He soon realizes that Thorwald is coming to his apartment. When Thorwald enters the apartment and approaches him, Jeff repeatedly sets off his camera flashbulbs, temporarily blinding Thorwald. Thorwald grabs Jeff and pushes him toward the open window as Jeff yells for help. Jeff falls to the ground just as some police officers enter the apartment and others run to catch him. Thorwald confesses the murder of his wife and the police arrest him.

A few days later, the heat has lifted and Jeff rests peacefully in his wheelchair, now with casts on both legs. The lonely neighbor woman chats with the songwriter in his apartment, the dancer's lover returns home from the Army, the couple whose dog was killed have a new dog, and the newly married couple are bickering. In the last scene of the film, Lisa reclines beside Jeff, appearing to read a book on foreign travel in order to please him, but as soon as he is asleep, she puts the book down and happily opens a fashion magazine.

தெய்வத்திருமகள்,Holy daughter of God

Oneindia Entertainment

The story of the film is about a man with a developmental disability, who fights for his daughter's custody after the death of his wife. Krishna (Vikram) is a dim-witted with a maturity of a five-year-old, who has lost his wife. He works in a chocolate factory in Ooty and lives happily with his daughter Neela (Sara). She goes to a school, which is run by her grand father Rajendran (Sachin Khedkar), but she is not aware of the fact nor her grand father. At this juncture, there bonding gets a threat after his father-in-law Rajendran (Sachin Khedkar) came to know about the truth and drags him to the court for Neela's custody, which devastates his emotional balance.
Rajendran along with his second daughter Shwetha (Amala Paul) appoints lawyer Bashyam (Naseer) to handle the case. Though, it looks, there is a point in their argument that a retard could not bring up his daughter easily, yet their separation would not be justified because Rajendran himself is a father of two girls. However, Krishna accidentally meets Anuradha Ragunathan (Anushka Shetty) and narrates his story. Moved by his past, she decides to fight for him in the court. Bashyam, who has never lost a single case in his life, tries to win the case at any cost. The rest of the story, which is shot in a court, is advised to watch on-screen.

Performance:
First of all, we should thank Vikram for making such an attempt as an actor, as it is very difficult to showcase the troubles of the people, who are are victims of developmental disability. The actor has given such a performance that audience keep remembering even after coming out of the theatres. His childish looks, his laughters and wonderful expressions are treat to watch. Baby Sara has acted from her heart and one could not stop raving about the five-year-old after watching her acting. Anushka Shetty could not have expected more than this. It is a dream role for any actress, as her character in the film had good scope for performance without being glamorous. Santhanam in his usual ways, steals the show, whenever he comes on-screen. Nasser, MS Bhasakar and other characters have also done justice for their roles.

Technical:
Starting with cinematography, Nirav Shah has beautifully wonderfully captured the locales of Ooty on his camera lens with ease. His light settings for indoors and outdoors are praise worthy. Music by GV Prakash Kumar is good but not best. For this genre, the audio banks on melody. However, he has managed to deliver three good numbers. Editor Anthony would have been merciless in the first half, as the general audience might get slightly bored due to slow proceedings. And finally, director AL Vijay, who has penned the story and screenplay, has made his best film ever. He has really worked a lot on the subject, as it is a complex and sensible story.

Overall:
Al Vijay has etched an emotional story with a lot of commercial elements. We can see a mentally handicapped character in a highly sentimental melodrama. Vikram surely touches one's heart with his brutally honest depiction of a mentally disabled man and eventually brings out tears in you. His chemistry with Sara is wonderfully picturized and father-daughter bonding is threaded well.

Drawbacks:
Deiva Thirumagal is not a typical commercial entertainer and it is not sure how the mass audience will receive the movie. The narration of the movie in the first half is bit boring. It is only in the second part, the proceeding speeds up.
Verdict:
Deiva Thirumagal has a heart touching subject with wonderful performances from the actors. Don't miss it!
Cast: Vikram, Anushka Shetty, Amala Paul, Santhanam, Nasser and others.

THOR

File:Thor poster.jpgThe epic adventure Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the mystical realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As a result, Thor is banished to Earth where he is forced to live among humans. When the most dangerous villain of his world sends its darkest forces to invade Earth, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero.-- (C) Paramount Pictures

_____________
Thor lands in New Mexico, where scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), her assistant Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and mentor Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård), find him. The local populace finds Mjolnir, which S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) soon commandeers before forcibly acquiring Jane's data about the wormhole that delivered Thor to Earth. Thor, having discovered Mjolnir's nearby location, seeks to retrieve it from the facility that S.H.I.E.L.D. quickly constructed but he finds himself unable to lift it, and is captured. With Selvig's help, he is freed and resigns himself to exile on Earth as he develops a romance with Jane.In 965 A.D., Odin (Anthony Hopkins), king of Asgard, wages war against the Frost Giants of Jotunheim and their leader Laufey (Colm Feore), to prevent them from conquering the Nine Realms, starting with Earth. The Asgardian warriors defeat the Frost Giants and seize the source of their power, the Casket of Ancient Winters. In the present, Odin's son Thor (Chris Hemsworth) prepares to ascend to the throne of Asgard, but is interrupted when Frost Giants attempt to retrieve the Casket. Against Odin's order, Thor travels to Jotunheim to confront Laufey, accompanied by his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), childhood friend Sif (Jaimie Alexander) and the Warriors Three; Volstagg (Ray Stevenson), Fandral (Joshua Dallas) and Hogun (Tadanobu Asano). A battle ensues until Odin intervenes to save the Asgardians, destroying the fragile truce between the two races. For Thor's arrogance, Odin strips his son of his godly power and exiles him to Earth, accompanied by his hammer Mjolnir — the source of his power, now protected by a spell to allow only the worthy to wield it.
Loki discovers he is Laufey's son, adopted by Odin after the war ended. When Odin, overcome with stress, falls into the deep "Odinsleep" that allows him to recuperate, Loki becomes king and offers Laufey the chance to kill Odin and retrieve the Casket. Sif and the Warriors Three, unhappy with Loki's rule, attempt to return Thor from exile, convincing Heimdall (Idris Elba), gatekeeper of the Bifröst - the means of traveling between worlds - to allow them passage to Earth. Aware of their plan, Loki sends the Destroyer, a seemingly indestructible automaton, to pursue them and kill Thor. The warriors find Thor, but the Destroyer attacks and defeats them, prompting Thor to offer himself instead. Struck by the Destroyer and near death, Thor finds his sacrifice has proven him worthy to wield Mjolnir. The hammer returns to him, restoring his powers and enabling him to defeat the Destroyer. Kissing Jane goodbye and vowing to return, he and his fellow Asgardians return to confront Loki.
In Asgard, Loki betrays and kills Laufey, revealing his true plan to use Laufey's attempt on Odin's life as an excuse to destroy Jotunheim with the Bifröst Bridge, and thus prove himself worthy to Odin. Thor arrives and fights Loki before destroying the Bifröst Bridge to stop Loki's plan, stranding himself in Asgard. Odin awakens and prevents the brothers from falling into the abyss created in the wake of the bridge's destruction, but Loki allows himself to fall to his apparent death. Thor makes amends with Odin, admitting he is not ready to be king, while on Earth, Jane and her team search for a way to open a portal to Asgard.
In a post-credits scene, Selvig has been taken to a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, where Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) asks him to study an unnamed device, which Fury says may hold untold power. Loki, invisible, whispers to Selvig to agree, which Selvig does.

China Town – Malayalam Movie Review

http://www.cinefundas.com

The watch word is “Addi poli”, as that is what is suggested by the movie in all ways. The 3-in one combo of Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep seem to have been the sole objective of making this movie. But, objectively looking at it, it is a complete, in and out, “Lal” etan( as he is fondly termed) movie.
The one thing, that preys on, in this movie, is the magic of Mohanlal. He does bring to the movie a stamp or rather a mark and people are mesmerized. Everytime in every frame of his in the movie, applause is evident, on account of his charisma as an actor.
This actor, with an absolute penchant for acting and who has played such wonderful roles in movies is not used well, in this complete commercial outer.
The movie plays along, as if on a well knit path, for the actors. The story line is predictable and not different at all from many others. Mathukutty (Mohanlal), Zackaria (Jayaram) and Binoy (Dileep) are the sons of ‘best bud’ fathers. The three fathers are killed amongst gang strife, wherein one other friend in the shape of Vincent Gomas (Captain Raju) escapes and builds his turf, in the form of a casino named jackpot in China Town, Goa. He invites the sons over and hands over the casino to them; only then do they realize the underlying story of the past. Then, it is the turn of the sons, to take revenge on the mafia, who threatens, their very existence. The romantic angles of the lead stars are played full on, in to the movie, like standard fare.
Kavya Madhavan in her role as Roseamma, is not given much scope to display her histrionics; has not been amply used and seems to be a very poor choice of role for this very talented and pretty actress.
Suraj Venjaramoodu who plays the leader of one of the under world mafia groups and his portrayal of helping the lead stars later, provides much comic relief. In fact, he does carry a lot of the ‘comic role’ mantle firmly on his shoulders right from the time he appears on screen to the last scene. Though, the scene with the Sumo wrestler (supposedly a buyer of the casino), hardly, creates a diversion.
Aside, the movie is funny in the first half and loses its lure in the second half. Also Lal etan’s expressions in the first half are full of hilarity and make us aware of why he is such a great actor, although it is really not required.
The climax is solely predictable and nothing can shake the trio of stars.
Sadly, even a first rate actor like Jayaram has nothing of substance, to contribute to the movie. Dileep just plays along as a sidekick, with a character, which really requires no mention; what with his womanizing ways just landing him into trouble.
The music is nice and one song in particular “Arike ninnalum” is melodious. Jassie Gift has added a real jazzy effect to all the songs.
The cinematography is nothing worth mentioning, though, one does see a lot of Goa; there is nothing spectacular to write home about.
What one can expect, from the movie, is just this; a lot of laughs and a whole lot of kicks. And if you are a “Lal etan” fan, his expressions and antics will definitely make you love the flick.

Inception

Watched the movie,at first it gaves the shadow of matrix but on going it turns out be most awesome movie of the decade..

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his partner Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) perform an illegal corporate espionage by entering the subconscious minds of their targets, using two-level "dream within a dream" strategies to "extract" valuable information. Each of the "extractors" carries a "totem", a personalized small object whose behavior is unpredictable to anyone except its owner, to determine if they are within another person's dream. Cobb's totem is a spinning top which perpetually spins in the dream state. Cobb struggles with memories of his dead wife, Mal (Marion Cotillard), who manifests within his dreams and tries to sabotage his efforts.
Cobb is approached by the wealthy Mr. Saito (Ken Watanabe), Cobb's last extraction target, asking them to perform the act of "inception", planting an idea within the person's subconscious mind. Saito wishes to break up the vast energy empire of his competitor, the ailing Maurice Fischer (Pete Postlethwaite), by suggesting this idea to his son Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy) who will inherit the empire when his father dies. Should Cobb succeed, Saito promises to use his influence to clear Cobb of the murder charges for his wife's death, allowing Cobb to re-enter the United States and reunite with his children. Cobb assembles his team: Eames (Tom Hardy), an identity forger; Yusuf (Dileep Rao), a chemist who concocts the powerful sedative needed to stabilize the layers of the shared dream; and Ariadne (Ellen Page), a young student architect tasked with designing the labyrinth of the dream landscapes. Saito insists on joining the team as an observer and to assure the job is completed. While planning the inception, Ariadne learns of the guilt Cobb struggles with from Mal's suicide and his separation from his children when he fled the country as a fugitive. The job is set into motion when Maurice Fischer dies and his son accompanies his father's body from Sydney to Los Angeles. During the flight, Cobb sedates Fischer, and the team bring him into a three-level shared dream. At each stage, the member of the team who is "creating" the dream remains while the other team members fall asleep within the dream to travel further down into Fischer's subconscious. The dreamers will then ride a synchronized system of "kicks" (a car diving off a bridge, a falling elevator, and a collapsing building) back up the levels to wake up to reality. In the first level, Yusuf's dream of a rainy city, the team successfully abducts Fischer, but the team is attacked by Fischer's militarized subconscious projections, which have been trained to hunt and kill extractors. Saito is mortally wounded during the shoot-out, but due to the strength of Yusuf's sedative, dying in the dream will send them into limbo, a deep subconscious level where they may lose their grip on reality and be trapped indefinitely.
Eames takes the appearance of Fischer's godfather Peter Browning (Tom Berenger) to suggest that he reconsider his opinion of his father's will. Yusuf remains on the first level driving a van through the streets, while the remaining characters enter Arthur's dream, taking place in a corporate hotel. Cobb turns Fischer against Browning and persuades him to join the team as Arthur runs point, and they descend to the third dream level, a snowy mountain fortress dreamed by Eames, which Fischer is told represents Browning's subconscious. Yusuf's evasive driving on the first level manifests as distorted gravity effects on the second and an avalanche on the third.
Saito succumbs to his wounds, and Cobb's projection of Mal sabotages the plan by shooting Fischer dead. Cobb and Ariadne elect to enter limbo to find Fischer and Saito. There, Cobb confronts his projection of Mal, who tries to convince him to stay with her and his kids in limbo. Cobb refuses and confesses that he was responsible for Mal's suicide: to help her escape from limbo during a shared dream experience, he inspired in her the idea that her world wasn't real. Once she had returned to reality, she became convinced that she was still dreaming and needed to die in order to wake up. Through his confession, Cobb attains catharsis and chooses to remain in limbo to search for Saito; Eames defibrillates Fischer to bring him back up to the third-level mountain fortress, where he enters a safe room and discovers and accepts the idea to split up his father's business empire.
Leaving Cobb behind, the team members escape by riding the kicks back up the levels of the dream. Cobb eventually finds an elderly Saito who has been waiting in limbo for decades in dream time (just a few hours in real time), and the two help each other to remember their arrangement. The team awakens on the flight; Saito arranges for Cobb to get through U.S. customs, and he goes home to reunite with his children. Cobb uses his spinning top to test reality but is distracted by his children before he sees the result.
